Trend Forecasting #19: Cowgirls and boat shoes
This season is all about finding your voice either through rodeo aesthetic or channel your inner sailor.
The Spring has Sprung and we are ready to hit the lavender fields and the blooming parks, but to do all this we want to look decent and relevant. What’s relevant you will ask me and that’s what I’m here for. Spring is usually this transition period that makes it so hard to get dressed. You wake up on a nice sunny morning until you go out it’s cloudy and in the midday you start undressing till the night hits and you feel the cool wind giving you a chicken skin effect. Unfortunately, I cannot solve this problem, but I can give you the trends of the season that are items that can serve as intermediates for this complicated moment of the year.
Starting with one of my favourite trends of the season, the boat shoe, we have a versatile shoe that can serve you day and night with skirts and with pants, take you to school or to work and also to an early afternoon drink on a terrace. Miu Miu of course introduced its take of a boat shoe which is one of the favourites of the fashion girlies, but if your budget is not there yet like mine, you can always go for an old time classic Sebago or a less classic but still classy Sebago. The online searches for boat shoes have increased by approximately 30% the last 3 months.
Next in the line is the denim trend. We were already seeing it coming slowly from the runways, were many designers introduced the popular material to high fashion, but the cherry on the top was Beyoncé and her denim on denim on denim appearances the last couple of months. She is also the one that she made the Western aesthetic, that was already shimmering in low heat, explode with her Texas Hold’em single. TikTok didn’t need more than that to grab this opportunity and make it a whole new identity with another viral song but this time from Dasha. Leandra Medine and all the fashion girls have already started introducing the fringed jackets, so the “Westernism” didn't take too long to stick with us. And honestly if we see it with a bit more open mind than just booty shorts and cowboy boots it can take us to a bohemian Chloé vibe that I’m not totally against.
Which trend will you try first?
