Blogmas Countdown #8 - Get ready for 2024
We are still in Holiday season but in 2 weeks from now the sales season starts and you should start preparing your wishlist.
As 2023 winds down and the festive cheer of the holiday season fades, one can only anticipate one main event: the January sales season. For many, this time can be overwhelming, but this year, I'm embracing it with a newfound dedication. I'm stepping into the sales season fully prepared, armed with insights and a keen eye for emerging trends.
Sundays at Chaotic Data are synonymous with trend forecasting, a task that grows increasingly challenging as the fashion landscape continually evolves. Although macro-predictions are a complex feat, I'm delving deeper into a topic I previously touched upon: the resurgence of 2010s fashion. This week, we're not just revisiting the past; we're dissecting specific trends making a comeback from that iconic era.
As we draw parallels between the 2010s and the 2020s, one common thread stands out: recession. It's a factor that profoundly influences fashion trends, often more than we realize. So, as we navigate these sales, let's explore how this economic backdrop is reshaping our fashion choices, bringing a decade's worth of styles back into the spotlight.
Colour Blocking
Starting with a bold and eye-catching trend: color blocking. This trend was a prominent theme in the past and deeply ingrained in the fashion industry's roots. One invaluable resource I recommend for mastering this trend is 'The Dictionary of Color Combinations.' This compact book is a treasure trove of varied color combinations, offering endless inspiration for color blocking and beyond.

For the upcoming Spring, I'm predicting a return to some particularly striking color blocking pairs. Picture this: vibrant purple pants paired with a gentle baby blue top, or a vivid yellow scarf adding a splash of brightness to your outfit. These are the kind of daring, yet harmonious combinations that can elevate your style game.
So, as you gear up for the sales season, keep an eye out for these color combos. Whether you're browsing the racks or shopping online, consider how these bold pairings could refresh your wardrobe. After all, color blocking is not just about following a trend; it's about making a statement with confidence and creativity. You know what it could be even more iconic? To find a floral garment with the Violet+Yellow combo like this Burberry pants. Please share if you find one.
Unique Headpieces
Recently, I've been sensing a growing trend that's caught my eye: the rise of unique headpieces. This seems to be a natural evolution from the creative hairstyles we've seen dominating the fashion scene in recent years. Given that most people don't change their hair more than a couple of times per year, headpieces have emerged as a versatile alternative. They offer an effortless way to spice up any outfit, adding an instant spark to your daily ensemble.
Take, for instance, Chanel's latest show in Manchester, where some truly stunning headpieces were on display. These pieces demonstrate how a well-chosen accessory can elevate a look to new heights. Another notable trend is the return of bows, which is redefining hair accessories. Designers like Sandy Liang are embracing this trend, dedicating entire sections to hair accessories, each piece more captivating than the last.
Incorporating a headpiece into your outfit can be a game changer. It's a simple yet powerful way to make a statement and add a unique touch to your personal style. So, keep an eye out for these charming additions and consider how they might enhance your wardrobe.
The Return of the Stud
For those of us over 20, there's no forgetting one of the most iconic designs of the 21st century: Valentino's studded kitten heels. These heels were a definitive trendsetter in the 2010s, owned and flaunted by influencers in a dazzling array of colors. But that was just the beginning. Last year marked a notable resurgence of studs in fashion, with standout pieces like Alaïa's ballet flats and now Loewe's ballet pumps showcasing this edgy embellishment.
As we look ahead, I'm predicting that studs will continue to make a bold statement in the fashion world. Their recent appearances are just the tip of the iceberg. By the end of 2024, I expect studs to be a ubiquitous feature in fashion collections, adorning everything from footwear to accessories and beyond.
This revival isn't just about nostalgia; it's a reimagining of a classic trend. The modern iteration of studs is more versatile and innovative, seamlessly blending with contemporary styles. So, keep an eye out for this studded renaissance and consider how these edgy details can add a touch of rebellion and sophistication to your wardrobe.

With this glimpse into the future of fashion trends for the next couple of years, you're now perfectly equipped to curate your shopping lists with a strategic eye. Personally, I'm setting my sights on a pair of studded ballet flats – a nod to the stud trend's exciting comeback. Additionally, I'll be on the lookout for anything in a rich shade of purple and eye-catching silver statement jewelry, which are sure to be key players in the upcoming style seasons and of course I will keep my hair-bow strong as always.
Excitingly, I'll also be spending a day in Paris, I'm eagerly anticipating a visit to one of my favorite shopping destinations, Le Bon Marché. With a bit of luck, I'm hoping to snag some fantastic finds that embody these emerging trends. I hope
will elaborate me on this endeavour since we are visiting together.Until my next fashion adventure, I wish you all Happy Holidays. May this season bring you joy, style, and perhaps a few fashion-forward bargains!
